In recent years, the knowledge of the molecular basis of disease has substantially improved. It is now well established that breast cancer consists of 5 or more distinct disease subtypes. It is also believed that this is likely to be the case in most cancers.

Our Approach:

At Almac, we have undertaken a number of major studies to identify the subtypes in a number of cancer types. To achieve this we have worked with academic collaborators to source large FFPE datasets and we are carrying out extensive molecular subtype analysis for a variety of cancer types including

• Ovarian cancer
• Breast cancer
• Colorectal cancer
• Lung cancer
• Prostate cancer

Better understanding of the molecular basis of the disease can lead to better diagnosis and can be used for clinical trial enrichment.
