The molecule is \u201clabelled\u201d with a radioisotope to enable tracking of its journey via imaging technology.<\/p>\n<p>Carbon-14 (or <sup>14<\/sup>C) is the most favoured label choice when considering radiolabelling as it incorporates a <sup>14<\/sup>C label selectively into the skeleton of the drug molecule, is detectable at very low concentrations, and its long half-life means no need for correction for radioactive decay.<\/p>\n<p>Almac has extensive experience in the synthesis and analysis of stable (non radio-active) and\u00a0<sup>14<\/sup>C isotope labelled compounds \u2013 from drug discovery through to launch \u2013 we can label any compound at any stage, including small molecules, peptides and larger bio molecules.<\/p>\n<p>Our custom radiolabelling service encompasses QC and analytical support, including method development and validation, method transfer and radiolabelling stability studies from our state-of-the-art facilities.<\/p>\n<p><em>We are MHRA certified for\u00a0<sup>14<\/sup>C manufacture and GMP compliance and we are fully equipped to deliver an industry-leading, cost-effective radiolabelling service.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Isotopic labelling imposes many synthetic challenges beyond those found in normal chemical synthesis.
