Living in Northern Ireland Benefits - Almac CareersJohn Robson – Moved from England 2015
“Although I was initially hesitant about relocating to Northern Ireland, my experiences to date have been nothing but positive. Compared to many parts of the UK, the affordability of housing allows you much greater choice than in the southeast of England. For example, you can chose to live in the vibrant city of Belfast, or one of the smaller towns like Hillsborough or Moira, or be more isolated out in the stunning countryside. If you have a family and children, then the education system is also a great positive as it still offers the choice of grammar schools. There is easy access to transport links to the mainland, and great links to London and other cities in the UK – from the centre of Belfast you can be in the centre of London in two hours which makes it very easy to visit friends and family.”

Tim Davison – Moved from USA 2012
“I moved from the USA to Northern Ireland to work for Almac 4 years ago, bringing with me my wife, our two children and our pet dog! There are many things I appreciate about life in Northern Ireland- there is a strong emphasis on family values and Almac actively encourage a healthy work/life balance with enables me to spend valuable time with my family. Northern Ireland has a fantastic education system which is of great benefit to our two children (aged 13 and 16). Additionally the cost of living is exceptionally low, particularly in real estate- a little can go a very long way! It’s great to live in a country so rich in culture and history as well as an abundance of beautiful surroundings right on our doorstep.”

Valentina Pavlova – Moved from Malta 2015
“Having never visited Northern Ireland prior to coming here to work for Almac just over a year ago, I was a little apprehensive about the move- though I needn’t have worried! As a Bulgarian who moved here from Malta I was delighted to find a great number of Almac staff and individuals in the local community had come to Northern Ireland from other countries in recent years just like me, all of whom were more than willing to give advice from their experiences and help me to settle in. The people are so friendly here, I’ve made lots of new friends and I’ve enjoyed making the most of what Northern Ireland has to offer during my spare time.”
