The Role
The Person

The role holder will:

· Be a ‘hands on’, subject matter expert, working with state-of-the-art manufacturing and packaging equipment and associated computerised operating systems

· Oversee the completion of production batches with responsibility for ensuring operations are completed in a safe and compliant manner

· Support the introduction of new equipment and processes

· Identify challenges and recommend continuous improvement opportunities

The role holder should be:

· Interested in delivery of a high quality, safe and efficacious product to our clients and their patients

· A graduate

or

An experienced production operator currently working in the pharmaceutical/engineering industry

· Motivated and keen to learn about the pharmaceutical industry

· An excellent communicator and team player

· Keen to develop and grow with a fast paced, expanding business

Working in a specialised industry, we recognise that at the time of application, a Production Technician may not possess the required knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry. Entry to this role can therefore be via the ‘pharmaceutical/engineering experience’ route or via non-experienced (Graduate) route. Whatever your pathway, we are committed to helping you achieve your potential.

Graduate Production Technicians
Production Technicians

New graduates begin the Production Technician pathway as Graduate Production Technicians.

The role is ideal for those with a third‑level Life Science or Engineering qualification, with no experience needed.

Progression to Production Technician typically occurs within 2–3 years, depending on performance

The role is suitable for people with significant relevant experience working within the pharmaceutical industry or in an engineering environment.

We welcome applicants with relevant operational experience from outside the pharmaceutical sector, especially those from regulated industries like food production, beverage manufacturing, or aerospace. These positions suit individuals with strong, transferable skills, and the entry level offered will reflect each applicant’s experience and capabilities.

Almac has a structured career progression pathway to ensure that all personnel have the opportunity to progress within the organisation and fulfil their full potential. This includes further career moves into management or technical positions.

Salaries:

The starting salary for this role is dependent on the applicant’s qualifications and experience.

Graduate Production Technician to Production Technician Route
Pharmaceutical Operational Experience or Engineering Experience to Production Technician Route

· Level 1 salary £29,000 (excluding shift premium)

· Structured career progression to Level 2 on successful completion of 1 year

· Structured career progression to Production Technician on successful completion of 2 years at Level 2

· Note: Employees can be promoted from Level 2 to Production Technician after 1 year based on displaying a high level of competence in the role

· Level 1 starting salary £33,000 (excluding shift premium)

· New employees can start on Level 1 or Level 2 based on experience; with an employee’s starting salary based on previous experience

· Candidates who start at Level 1, who display high levels of competency, are eligible for promotion to Production Technician Level 2

· This is managed through the company annual Performance Management Process

Salaries stated are as of October 2025. Salaries are increased annually (in October) based on company and personal performance.
