Almac Group is currently seeking a Director of Business Development to cover the East Coast territory on behalf of our Pharma Services Division. The Director of Business Development is a field sales personnel with responsibility for managing business relationships and achieving assigned revenue targets within their allocated territory.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Contribute to the development of the customer base and business strategy of Almac Pharma Services through:
- identifying and following up on potential business opportunity leads, utilizing contacts, current customer base, Group customer base, referrals or ‘cold call’ introductions
- conducting, as necessary, desk research and analysis of market trends including collating appropriate target market data in order to identify target markets and customer leads
- maintaining a pipeline of new business opportunities that will meet or exceed annually defined sales targets, that will include deliverables for all Almac Pharma Services facilities.
- effectively managing business relationships with existing clients, as appropriate
- supporting profile of Almac Pharma Services including exhibitions, conferences, direct marketing, advertising and identifying opportunities to increase the profile of Almac Pharma Services.
- supporting the Proposals group, analyzing all new enquiries in accordance with service offering, developing and generating proposals and responding effectively and efficiently to clients
- developing understanding of Group service offering to facilitate cross selling
- identifying and developing sales strategies for the implementation of new services.
- The overall goal is to meet or exceed agreed annual financial and performance targets.
- Present detailed proposals to the client, either personally or with the assistance of Technical colleagues. This will involve liaising with several internal departments including Project Management, Operations, Design, Logistics, Procurement, etc. in order to generate costs and lead time information used in the proposals.
- Develop, maintain and optimize territory business plans whereby the goal is to generate business opportunities, capture those opportunities and provide ongoing analysis via our CRM (Salesforce).
- Work with other Pharma departments (globally if necessary) to ensure that clients’ requirements as represented in their proposal and such requirement are clearly understood both internally and externally before commencement of work.
Qualifications:
Required Experience / Education:
- Bachelor’s degree within a Life Science or Business-related discipline
- 3+ years within a Business Development, Client/Account Management or Technical Project Management role within the Pharmaceutical industry or 5+ years in a manufacturing or analytical role within drug product manufacturing and/or packaging services
- Experience presenting to individuals or groups of key decision makers on business solutions, service offerings etc. (to include both preparation and delivery of presentation materials)
- Strong understanding of sales strategy, sales tactics, and business development processes, including but not limited to business planning, sales forecasting, sales funnel lifecycle management, account management principles
Preferred Experience / Education:
- Master’s degree within a Life Science or Business-related discipline
- 5+ years of experience of Direct Sales in relation to Drug Product manufacturing, testing and/or packaging services for a Pharmaceutical CDMO
- Business planning and account management territory plan development & execution experience as well as experience with quote or contract preparation
- Previous experience of managing client accounts within a business development role (to include relationship maintenance and development and revenue generation) within a target driven environment
- Expertise and strong working knowledge in clinical supply, CRO, or associated market segment
