IHC Solutions
Almac Diagnostic Services offers end-to-end IHC (Immunohistochemistry) biomarker assay support for research and clinical applications, including CTA and CDx development. Our state-of-the-art laboratories are equipped with a broad range of automated staining platforms and advanced digital pathology tools, enabling high-throughput, reproducible analysis and precise interpretation. Delivered within a GCLP, CLIA, and ISO 15189-compliant framework, our IHC services combine scientific rigor with operational flexibility to meet the evolving needs of precision oncology and translational research.
Due to increasing client demand, Almac has recently increased the capacity of our IHC services, and as part of our new laboratory facilities expansion we have created a new dedicated IHC & pathology lab at our Craigavon, UK Headquarters and increased our IHC capacity and instrumentation in our Durham, NC labs in the USA.
Almac can develop and validate custom clinical biomarker assays on IHC platforms or tech transfer in existing IHC assays for clients’ clinical trial needs. We can also provide associated global clinical trial testing.
Almac offers solutions from leading IHC staining technology providers including Leica, Roche Ventana and Agilent DAKO instruments.

Pathology & Digital Pathology Solutions
Almac Diagnostic Services can generate high quality, annotated digital pathology images for clients’ biomarker programmes.
Our team of expert in-house pathologists and consultant pathologists, specialising in Anatomic Pathology (Histopathology and Cytopathology) & Haematology, are able to instantly access, pre-assess and characterise H&E and Giemsa-stained tissue prior to downstream molecular analyses.
Almac pathologists can prepare fresh or partially processed tissue as required to create slides suitable for digital imaging. This includes:
- Solid tissue resection fixation and embedding and microtomy
- Preparation of blood and bone marrow aspirate smears or cytospins
- Creation of Tumour Tissue Microarray (TMA) blocks
- Tissue staining (H&E, Giemsa, IHC)
Our pathologists use a range of digital scanners, including The Leica Aperio AT2 and GT450 automated ulta-fast and high-capacity scanning makes, optimally suited for high throughput laboratory environments.
