Almac Group North Carolina – 25th Anniversary Celebrations
July 29, 2025

Almac Group in Durham, North Carolina is celebrating its 25th anniversary!
Almac first established a presence in the US in 1996 with the opening of its clinical trial operations in Audubon, Pennsylvania.
In 2000, Almac acquired the Duke Clinical Research Institute Pharmacy (DCRIP), which established our presence in North Carolina. Over the last 25 years the site has grown from 30 employees to more than 450 employees and is home to Almac Clinical Services, Almac Diagnostic Services, Almac Clinical Technologies and Almac Group support. The campus has also expanded from 1 facility to 4, housing offices, warehousing, production and drug returns.
Expanding into North Carolina significantly advanced the development of Clinical Services’ Supply Chain Management services across all global locations.
WebEZ was created and launched from North Carolina in 2006. WebEZ, the world’s first configurable randomisation system, has enabled hundreds of clinical trials to transition from manual methods to robust automated solutions for randomisation and drug ordering.
Our Durham facility continues to lead in innovation, most recently with the introduction of cutting-edge UltraLow and Cryogenic solutions designed to meet the needs of the expanding Biotech sector. The site recently implemented a –70C purpose built large-scale storage unit for critical medicines and temperature-sensitive product. This is one of the first units of its kind in the US.
In 2015 Almac Diagnostic Services established a US laboratory at the Almac Durham site to provide biomarker testing solutions for global clinical trials. Now CAP, ISO15189 and ISO13485 certified, the facility has delivered testing using Almac-developed novel biomarker assays across a range of technologies for both US based and global clinical trials, directly impacting treatment for thousands of patients to date.
Almac Clinical Technologies has focused on the design, project management and oversight of IRT systems for pharmaceutical and CRO clients.
Donna Christopher, Global VP Operations, Almac Clinical Services said: “We are proud to mark our 25th year in North Carolina and to celebrate the impact that our facility has on Almac’s global success in supporting our clients and contributing to the advancement of human health. As well as our contribution to the local community as a premier employer in Durham.”
