Almac Group Presents “Sir Allen McClay Award for Excellence in Chemistry”

Awarded at the 61st Annual Montgomery County Science Research Competition

Souderton, U.S., March 12, 2018Almac Group, the global contract pharmaceutical development and manufacturing organization, is proud to announce its recent sponsorship of the Montgomery County Science and Teachers Association (MCSTA), and furthermore, delighted to recognize three middle school and three high school Montgomery County students for their innovative research and exemplary projects in the field of chemistry.

Student recipients at the high school level included 1) Angie Kuang, Methacton High School, 2) Annabelle Laughlin, Upper Dublin High School, and 3) Sophia Breslim, Dock Mennonite Academy High School. Student recipients at the middle school level included 1) Dylan Kuang, Arcola Intermediate School (Methacton), 2) Andrew Zhang, Arcola Intermediate School (Methacton), and 3) Anna Smith, Dock Mennonite Academy Middle School.

Michael Cannarsa, Director of Business Development, Almac Sciences, commented: “Advancing human health is our mission at Almac, and broadening education opportunities for local students is important for building on that mission going forward. We congratulate all on their successful participation and encourage them to continue asking questions and seeking answers in their pursuit of higher learning.”

The competition works to emphasize a commitment to STEM research and provides a platform for students to contribute related projects in over fourteen categories within their chosen field. The culmination of teacher, parent, and community organizations enables students to express their future interest in these career paths, as they illustrate creativity and enthusiasm.

Held at the Floy Lewis Field House at Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA, over four hundred participants submitted projects. The first, second, and third place winners from each category will move on to The Delaware Valley Science Fair, positioning students to make significant contributions to research and discovery.
