Almac Group’s US Financial Controller Appointed to Irish American Business Chamber & Network (IABCN)’s Board of Directors

Souderton, U.S., November 02, 2017Almac Group, the global contract pharmaceutical development and manufacturing organization, is delighted to recognize the appointment of Mark Weir, US Financial Controller, to the (IABCN)’s Board of Directors, based out of the City of Philadelphia.

Weir is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland and holds a Master’s degree from Dublin City University in IT & Accounting and a Bachelor’s Degree from Queens University, Belfast, N.I. in Economics. Originally from Northern Ireland, Mark moved to the USA in 2012 to accept his current position with the Almac Group. Prior to joining the Almac Group, Mark trained as a Chartered Accountant with PWC and worked in a number of international organizations, including a role leading the international expansion of a family-owned firm from Northern Ireland in establishing their first foreign facility in Kansas, U.S.

The Almac Group became the first company headquartered in Northern Ireland to receive the prestigious Ambassador Award in 2016. The Ambassador Award is given annually to a member company that has helped to carry out the Chamber’s mission of strengthening business and educational ties between Ireland and the United States. Kevin Stephens, Finance Director of the Almac Group received the award from Barbara Jones, Irish Consul General on behalf of Anne Anderson, Irish Ambassador, at a ceremony in Philadelphia, U.S.
