More than 15,000 records updated securely each day during a major migration programme thanks to Northgate’s expertise.

Newtownabbey based IT specialist, Northgate Managed Services has cemented its eight year partnership with global pharmaceutical company, The Almac Group after successfully migrating its global online resources to Almac’s new US headquarters in Souderton, Pennsylvania.

The new headquarters houses clinical trial supply and technology services as well as introducing Almac’s analytical services to the U.S. for the first time.

Using a specialist web application, up to 15,000 records are securely created  and updated each day from Almac’s clients, worldwide.  Northgate’s role was to manage the transition of key web services from its old data center locations to its new operation, whilst ensuring that clients experienced no downtime during the migration process.

A specialist team from Northgate was responsible for the highly time sensitive project which demanded meticulous planning together with implementation of the latest Citrix NetScaler web security technology.  Now fully integrated, the new solution also allows Almac to meet the growing demands for its services from pharmaceutical and biotech companies world-wide.

Commenting on the success of the project Andrew Hillis, Group Head of Information Services for the Almac Group said, “The decision to move key operations to our new Souderton site was based on business growth and development, but the transition process had to be flawless, with absolutely no break in service.  Having worked with Northgate for eight years, the company’s experience, expertise and understanding of our business proved vital.  The end result was the successful transfer and centralisation of resources, with an enhanced and highly effective infrastructure which is positioned to allow for future growth.”

James Turnbull, Managing Director, Infrastructure Solutions, Northgate Managed Services said, “Almac’s feedback on the project is a strong endorsement of Northgate’s expertise and project management skills.  Our client understanding and business insight proved key and ensured Almac delivered its three core commitments of innovation, quality and customer service.  We look forward to developing and strengthening our partnership in the future.”
