Almac wins prestigious Aer Lingus Viscount Award for Overall Excellence

Accolade is formal recognition of Almac’s considerable contribution to sustaining economic ties between the UK and Ireland

Almac, the Craigavon based, international integrated contract development and manufacturing organization, has received the Aer Lingus Viscount Award for Overall Excellence.

The award is given annually for providing an outstanding contribution to the Northern Irish economy and improving business relationships between the UK and Ireland.

Aer Lingus, in association with UTV and Business Eye, chose Almac in recognition of the company’s enhancement of the Northern Irish knowledge economy and for its continued growth in highly competitive global markets.

Almac a strong and stable player in the international pharmaceutical market has been able to demonstrate a continuous and growing presence in Ireland, and internationally, despite turbulent economic conditions and the worst global recession for nearly 70-years.

The judging panel was made up of Tracy Meharg, Managing Director of the Innovation & Capability Group at Invest NI, Ann McGregor, Chief Executive of the Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce, Jamie Delargy, Business Editor at UTV, Richard Buckley, Editor of Business Eye and Enda Corneille, Corporate Affairs Director at Aer Lingus.

Commenting on the announcement, Almac’s CEO, Alan Armstrong, said: “We are tremendously proud of what Almac has achieved over the last 30-years and the company’s Northern Irish roots. This award is testament to the excellence we have achieved across all divisions of our business, and in particular, the excellent team we have built – which has enabled Almac to grow into the successful company that it is today. “
