Current Role
Richard has enjoyed a successful 30+ year career in the contract pharmaceutical development sector and has extensive experience in building, training, and maintaining world-class business development teams that have productively engaged clients across all areas of the drug development pipeline.
Previous Experience
Prior to joining Almac Group, Richard had held several Sr. Business Development and Operational positions at Intertek Pharmaceutical Services, MDS Tricon, Celsis Analytical Services, and Pharmakon Research International. In his roles, Richard has demonstrated efficient execution and change management with proven expertise in team building, analysis, market engagement, talent acquisition, and resource alignment.

Most recently, Richard was Business Development Director of Intertek Pharmaceutical Services where he had direct responsibility for all Business Development, Sales and Marketing initiatives for the company’s Chemical and Pharmaceutical Division with a focus on domestic and international business development, execution of corporate strategies as well as enhancement of global sales leadership. Richard’s client base included many Fortune 500 companies, to whom he and his team successfully negotiated profitable multi-year, multi-million dollar contracts.

As Vice President, Business Development at Celsis Analytical Services, Richard directly hired and built the sales and client services functions, which achieved record sales performance in terms of both revenue and profit margin. Additionally, Richard implemented many sales infrastructure programs including the organization’s first CRM system, new KPI metrics as well as sales compensation plans.

Richard holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and Business from the University of Scranton and an MBA in Marketing and Finance and is a graduate of numerous professional programs including Strategic Sales Management from the University of Chicago’s Graduate School of Business.
