Current Role: 

As Vice President of Peptides, Alastair leads Almac’s peptide business function across custom synthesis, process development, GMP manufacture, and NeoPeptide™ manufacture, as well as line management responsibility for the Project Management function. Alastair also leads Almac’s business development activities on peptide projects.

Previous Experience: 

Alastair has nearly 25 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, 19 of them with Almac, originally as part of Albachem, which was acquired by Almac in 2004.  Prior to that, Alastair spent 3 and a half years at Zeneca Agrochemicals (Grangemouth), where he was responsible for developing a multi-stage process for a new cereal fungicide on the hundreds of tonnes a year scale.

Alastair graduated from the University of Strathclyde in 1995 with a BSC in chemistry and holds a PhD from the University of Edinburgh in synthetic organic chemistry, focused on novel methods of generating small molecule compound libraries, and an MBA from the University of Edinburgh, graduating in 2010.
