Almac Group Appoints Julie Shannon as Vice President and Deputy Head of Information Services

April 14, 2021

Craigavon, UK, 01 April 2021 – Almac Group, the contract development and manufacturing organisation, has today announced the appointment of Julie Shannon as Vice President and Deputy Head of Information Services (IS), globally.

In her role as VP, Julie will continue to support the Group’s Global Vice President & Group Head of Information Services, Andy Hillis. She will oversee the continuous streamlining, simplification and improvement of processes, with a view to removing non-value adding tasks thereby improving delivery across the entire department.

Julie will also be introducing the concept of shared services into IS in an effort to increase and improve collaboration in the standardization of service delivery provided by the department.   This will ensure the IT operating model provides the best value to Almac by understanding current and future technology needs.

Improving the management of the Group’s IS suppliers and vendors will also be a key part of Julie’s role as they, in many cases, provide key technical expertise which in turn supports the services provide by the team. She will also provide executive-level leadership and guidance to Almac’s IS operations which provides support for over 4,000 global users.

Having spent time working for multinational information technology equipment and services company, Fujitsu, Julie joined the Almac IS team in 2001 and has been a key member throughout.  Most recently she served as Group IS Support Manager where she led a global team to support Almac’s IS infrastructure, network, databases, systems and hardware.

Providing an extensive range of integrated services to the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors globally is built upon sound IS infrastructure and as Almac Group has grown, so too has the Group’s dependency on more advanced, secure and innovative digital technology. With over 2 decades experience, Julie has played a pivotal role in the seamless execution and expansion of IS services and support across Almac’s multiple facilities and offices throughout Europe, Asia and the United States in order to meet this growing demand.

Andy Hillis commented on Julie’s appointment: “I am delighted to announce Julie’s promotion to Vice President and Deputy Head of Information Services. Over the past 20 years she has been a valuable member of our team providing advice, guidance and support to enable the continual development of our global IS infrastructure, operations and resources. The commitment, experience and expertise Julie has demonstrated through her various roles within the department has been crucial in supporting the development of the IS team and I wish her every success in her new role.”
