Almac Group & Indian Valley Education Foundation Cut Opening Ribbon on Student Careers Experience Center at Souderton Area High School

June 16, 2022

Almac Group today announces the official dedication of an innovative student careers space at Souderton Area High School, marking the culmination of a three-year, innovative community-based partnership between Almac Group, Indian Valley Education Foundation, and Souderton Area School District.

As the cornerstone of the partnership, a portion of the Souderton Area High School library has been remodeled into a “Career & Collaboration Corner” through Almac’s financial support, outfitted with new furnishings and technology to foster collaboration, small group opportunities, and speakers. In addition, Almac also sponsored a hands-on careers exploration experience with students, enabling students to: visit the company’s North American headquarters in Souderton; film, edit, and produce video interviews featuring Almac employees and their firsthand career experiences; and create a digital tool for their peers that maps Almac’s career opportunities to the school’s Pathway 360°program.

Ribbon cutting festivities included remarks from Valarie Higgins, President & Managing Director, Almac Clinical Technologies; RuthE Potter, Executive Director, Indian Valley Education Foundation; school administration; and six students who presented the digital career path tool to the audience.

Remarks were followed by the Office of Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick, presenting a flag flown over the U.S. Capitol in commemoration of the public-private educational partnership.

Almac Group is a leading employer in the Indian Valley and is at the forefront of developing, manufacturing, testing and distributing essential medicines to vulnerable patients around the world. The privately owned company re-invests all profits back into its business and this week announced a $250 million global capital investment plan to meet increased client demand over the next three years, including in North America.

“It is an essential part of our culture and purpose as an organization to invest in the next generation of scientists, engineers and technologists who will continue our mission to advance human health. We are thrilled that Souderton Area High School’s goal to expand and adapt the library into an innovative space for students was achievable through Almac’s sponsorship,” Valarie Higgins, President & Managing Director, Almac Clinical Technologies, said.

“To the students—as a leading employer in the Indian Valley, we have been honored by the opportunity to work with you and share more about what careers are possible in your own backyard. You truly represent the future of our community.”

RuthE Potter, CEFL, Executive Director IVEF said, “We are most proud to see that our students leave the Souderton Area School District prepared to navigate in the world as informed, well-educated, respectful human beings. While those skills are developed within the walls of our schools, they are reinforced through the interactions and opportunities they have with our community partners.”

“Almac has stepped forth to bring their resources and commitment to our school district in a unique and impactful way.  We hope this will light a spark with other area businesses to consider their role in positively supporting public education. Creating tomorrow’s workforce begins today.”
