Moves to Number Eleven in “Top 100 Companies” List

Craigavon, N.I., 30 Sep 2020 – Craigavon based Almac Group, the global contract pharmaceutical development and manufacturing organisation, is honoured to take the number two spot in this year’s Belfast Telegraph “Businesses making the largest contribution to incomes” table.  In addition, in a table listing Northern Ireland’s “Top 100 Companies” the company has moved up eight positions to number eleven.

The table ranks the most successful Northern Ireland-registered companies in order of pre-tax profits and has been described as a “timely reminder of the ongoing strength and diversity of our economy”. Company accounts from across Northern Ireland were analysed by top economist John Simpson to create the list and inevitably pre-date Covid-19.

The news comes as the Group’s figures for year ending 30 September 2019 reported a £85.4 million rise in turnover at £634.3 million with pre-tax profits recorded at £47.6 million, up from £27.6 million, while average global employee figures increased from 4,798 to 5,150 during the same period. Since these figures were published, much has changed in the pharmaceutical industry as a result of the impact of the current pandemic, however Almac continues to conduct its critical business operations across all its locations and is currently supporting over 80 separate crucial research programs to accelerate COVID-19 treatment.
