Almac Chairman addresses major business conference in Dublin
Almac Chairman Sir Allen McClay was the keynote speaker at the annual ‘Equity Conference’ hosted by InterTradeIreland which took place in Dublin earlier this week. Sir Allen told the conference that the success of Almac is built on the quality of its staff, and he urged Government’s to work with entrepreneurs to develop more successful enterprises.
Addressing delegates which included some of Ireland’s leading entrepreneurial figures as well as Government officials Sir Allen said:
“The economic future of Ireland, north and south, must be rooted in the knowledge based economy. We have the people to drive forward good businesses, we have shown that our universities can match any in the world in terms of research, development and innovation and Government is beginning to facilitate the convergence of the indigenous talent which exists throughout the island. All of us in business, academia and politics must work together to harness the natural talent which exists on the island of Ireland.”
“People now come to Ireland in search of work and career enhancement opportunities. At Almac we employ people from more than 29 different countries, all of whom have come to Craigavon to work because Almac provides them with the environment and the tools to develop and use their talents. I am very proud of what has been achieved and at Almac and we are now a world leader in the provision of integrated research, development and manufacturing services to the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors.
“Our success is the exemplar to other companies, new and existing, large and small. Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland has the best natural resources in the world, high quality people and that is the cornerstone of our success.”
