Almac Group Staff Raise £7,000 for Local Charities

Fundraising at annual marquee secures £3,500 each for Macmillan Cancer Support and Southern Area Hospice Services.
Employees of the Almac Group, headquartered in Craigavon, Co. Armagh, have gone better than ever before at their annual staff marquee celebration when it comes to raising funds for needy charities. Each year the Almac staff dig deep and last month they came up with £7,000 for Northern Ireland charities – the highest amount raised so far.
Elaine Gibson, Almac Group, presented a £3,500 check to Fiona Stephens from Southern Area Hospice Services and Laura Johnston from Macmillan Cancer Support at the company’s headquarters on Monday.
Elaine said: “At our annual company celebration it is important that we remember those in need and every year we make special effort to raise funds for charities in Northern Ireland.”
Fiona Stephens from the Southern Area Hospice Services said: “I am honored to accept this check on behalf of Southern Area Hospice Services. We work to provide support and care to people with Cancer, Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neurone Disease and other terminal illnesses. These funds will enable us to provide the very best quality of life for our patients and their families.”
Laura Johnston from Macmillan Cancer Support said: “We provide practical, medical, emotional and financial support to people in Northern Ireland whose lives are affected by cancer. This money will help us continue to provide such services to families in Northern Ireland and we are grateful to staff at Almac for their fundraising efforts.”
