Almac Group Receives Board of Trade Award by the United Kingdom’s Department of International Trade (DIT)

Craigavon, N.I., 25 October 2018 – Almac Group, the global contract development and manufacturing organization, is pleased to receive the UK’s Board of Trade Award, presented by the UK’s Department of International Trade (DIT) during its “International Trade Day” held aboard the Royal Navy’s HMS Queen Elizabeth in New York.
International Trade Secretary, Dr Liam Fox MP, hosted a series of events on Monday 22nd October aimed at strengthening ties with the US, which took place days after US Treasury Secretary, Robert Lighthizer, announced that the US intends to begin negotiations towards a UK-US Free Trade Agreement after the UK leaves the European Union.
A number of British companies were presented with prestigious Board of Trade Awards by the Secretary of State alongside the Almac Group, recognizing their successful export activity. Winners of the Board of Trade Awards come from a broad range of sectors, including life science, space and food & drink, representing the best of British innovation and entrepreneurship.

According to DIT, trade between the UK and the US totalled more than £180 billion in the year to June 2018, making the US the UK’s largest single nation trading partner and export market. Similarly, Almac reported a 19% rise in revenue in June, marking the first time turnover surpassed £500 million, following continued investment in expansion projects with the building of additional facilities and the construction of one of the largest pharmaceutical cold store facilities in Europe at its Global Headquarters in Craigavon, Northern Ireland.
