Almac Group Limited has received support for research and development from Invest Northern Ireland under the European Union’s Investment for Growth and Jobs Program.
The ‘INSIGHT’ project will be implemented over the next 30 months, performing research and development activities aimed at improving competitiveness & developing customer efficiencies. This project which is part-financed by the European Regional Development Fund under the Investment for Growth and Jobs Program 2014-2020 aims to increase business efficiency.

Smart enzyme discovery

Smart enzyme discovery
(8 – 12 weeks 100 – 200 enzymes)
Molecular modeling tools and Almac’s bioinformatic algorithms are used to sample and filter the sequence space of ~430 million sequences, building a final panel of highly specific and selective enzymes (100 – 200 enzymes). The selected panel is cloned, expressed and screened for the reaction of interest.
Metagenomics enzyme discovery

Metagenomics enzyme discovery
(12 – 14 weeks 100 – 200 enzymes)
Molecular modeling tools and Almac’s bioinformatic algorithms are used to sample and filter the sequence space of unique proprietary metagenomics databases, building a final panel of highly specific and selective enzymes (100 – 200 enzymes). The selected panel is cloned, expressed and screened for the reaction of interest.
Machine learning assisted enzyme discovery

Machine learning assisted enzyme discovery
Almac utilize machine learning and deep learning to leverage the data generated from enzyme discovery packages to identify new enzymes with improved enzymatic properties.
