March 28, 2006

Health Minister Shaun Woodward today visited the ALMAC Sciences Facility on Monday 27th March.

Mr Woodward praised the work of staff at the facility and said “I have seen at first hand today the exciting and potentially leading edge work being done in relation to cancers of the breast, lung, colon and prostate.

“It is worth bearing in mind that amongst all this state of the art technology, the work being done has the potential to provide better diagnoses, better treatment of cancer and ultimately save lives”

Welcoming Health Minister Shaun Woodward to the Almac site, Chairman Sir Allen McClay said “I am pleased to welcome the Health Minister to our premises here at Craigavon. Not many people know that work taking place here in Northern Ireland is at the leading edge of global cancer research. The Minister has been able to see at first hand the role played by Almac and Northern Ireland in cancer research.”
