Engineering Placement Student

Reporting to the Site Services Project Engineer, the Engineering Placement Student will be responsible for assisting with engineering matters relating to mechanical and electrical installations on site and design and build of civil projects e.g. new laboratories, office buildings etc. Work activities will also involve the collection, recording and analysis of data to aid the identification and implementation of energy saving measures.

The successful candidate will be responsible for effectively co-ordinating and processing shipping requests and a range of protocols. He/She will be the primary contact for customers in relation to distribution issues and will ensure that agreed timelines are met and queries are followed through to ensure satisfactory outcomes. This will involve prioritising shipping orders, liaising with couriers and assisting with the preparation of distribution instructions. The successful candidate will also be expected to generate technical documentation and distribution instructions to a high standard for use within the distribution process.

He/She will receive, process and transfer all incoming calls via the main switchboard in an efficient manner, incorporating the use of the PA system and ensure all messages are communicated effectively as required. They will receive visitors in a professional manner and ensure they have been issued with a security pass and inform the host that the visitor has arrived. They will also provide administrative support to all departments in the form of purchasing. Other duties will involve photocopying, filing and the generation of documents and reports.

Senior Mass Spectroscopist/Team Leader

We are seeking an extremely talented Mass Spectroscopist to fill a challenging role. You must be a hardworking and enthusiastic individual, keen to develop your career within a rapidly expanding company. The successful candidate should have an in-depth technical understanding of the effective use of modern mass spectrometry in order to provide expertise on MS applications and methodologies to support both external and internal customers. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, operation, preventative maintenance and trouble shooting of the mass spectrometer systems within the Analytical Department. These systems include LC-MSn, GC-MS, Q-TOF instruments from Applied Biosystems, Thermo Finnigan, Agilent Technology and Waters. You will be required to perform analysis of organic compounds for structural elucidation, impurity and metabolite identification, bioanalysis, radiochemical purity and protein sequencing. You will also assist analysts with data interpretation, work on method development projects and produce reports to high scientific standards. As a result, experience in HPLC and GC is essential and experience of complementary spectroscopic techniques (NMR, IR and UV) is desirable. You will be required to work in accordance with regulatory requirements (GMP/GLP), follow SOPs, and ensure that documentation is maintained. The work will involve validation activities such as equipment and method validation. As an acknowledged technical expert in mass spectrometry, the training and development of more junior spectroscopists and analysts will be an important part of your job.
