Almac Group is currently seeking a Performance Test Engineer for our Lansdale, PA location. The Performance Test Engineer develops, manages, and executes complex performance test plans, including analysis and interpretation and tuning of applications in a multi-tier system (applications & network) environment.  
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Assures Quality and Performance on Client-Specific Solutions and Corporate Products
    • Develop performance and load/stress test strategy and approach
    • Develop test cases, test scripts, and test reports
    • Correlate application performance with hardware resource usage.
    • Develop or aid in development of scripts that can automate collection and parsing of logs from hardware counters
    • Analyze statistical results for baselines, trends, and anomalies to facilitate problem solving, performance improvements, and reporting.
    • Contribute ideas and recommend action based on that analysis
    • Prepare and clearly communicate test results, both formally and informally, to technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Identify and articulate performance strengths and risks to stakeholders
    • Create load/stress tests, analyze load/stress test results and build and execute load and stress test suites/harnesses
    • Design and document user workflow models based on historic production usage statistics and projected future user transaction rates
    • Continuously create and update load scripts for new or altered business functions during subsequent release cycles and analyze the impact of these application changes on system performance
    • Design, code, and run scripts that facilitate the staging of performance test data
    • Identify, report and record defects
    • Identify and log Performance Test Team issues and risks
    • Reconcile test results from different tests and different groups
    • Write, debug and execute code used in performance testing efforts
    • Develop and execute SQL queries
    • Experience with SQL Server environment - Database, Web Servers, Application Servers, toolsets, etc.
  • Ensures Quality of Client and Product Software Code via Testing Practices, Impact Analysis and Team Reviews
    • Collaborates with project teams to create, execute, and document unit, integration, and functional tests as guided by a performance testing strategy for each project
    • Works with project team to automate performance tests for subsequent regression testing and appropriate test coverage of product builds
    • Supports project and product testers and business analysts via requirements and test reviews to ensure performance testing coverage
    • Understands environments and is able to identify code control, versioning, and environmental differences that impact testing
    • Ability to perform troubleshooting, risk identification, environmental control, and proposes approaches for mitigating risk
    • Performs thorough review of requirements prior to meetings
    • Provides prompt secondary and/or SME technical support
    • Independently implements simple/moderate initiatives and/or implements complex initiatives with assistance
    • Develops assigned project artifacts in a quality manner as per schedule
    • Participates in scenario, design and code reviews as appropriate and prescribed by the Project Team to verify:  performance tests required for the system exists, all tests complement each other to tie functionality together, and proper testing coverage is provided across developers and testers
    • Adheres to software testing best practices, testing standards, and departmental testing guidelines
    • Demonstrates strong understanding of cross-department and cross-product impact of requirements and design on previous builds or releases
    • Able to identify “hidden” or potential areas of customization based on requirements, experience and product knowledge
    • Recommends changes to client project templates, processes, or guidelines based on core product requirements or template changes
  • Ensures On-Time Delivery of Assigned Project Deliverables
    • Periodically reviews schedule, foresees potential for delay, raises issues early with the team and management and offers solutions for remediation  
    • Provides Level of Effort (LOE) estimates to project team and management for Change Requests [CRs]and detailed project tasks
    • Attends project meetings and actively engages in discussion and communicates issues with project team in a timely manner
    • Follows all SOPs, WIs, and Departmental Guidelines completely and thoroughly
    • Proactively offers several alternative solutions for dealing with scheduling or team commitment issues
    • Demonstrate ownership and accountability through self-directed task management
  • Ensures Quality by Supporting Development of Requirements and Understanding Business Value
    • As a member of the test team, identify functional and hardware requirements, system interdependencies, software architectures, develop test plans and test schedules
    • Collaborates with Project Team and advises on options based on baselined use cases, and functional, non-functional, and operational requirements as it relates to performance metrics
    • Provides guidance to more junior team members in derivation of performance metrics
    • Demonstrates strong understanding of cross-department and cross-product impact of requirements and design on system performance
    • Recommends process changes, additions, or solution approaches based on experience and value to the product
    • Insists on clarity and accuracy of requirements throughout the process
    • Able to identify “hidden” or potential areas of customization based on requirements, experience and product knowledge
    • Recommends changes to templates, processes, or guidelines based on core product requirements or template changes in order to positively impact solution performance
Required Experience / Education:
  • HS/GED with 3+ years working experience associated to the role requirements that demonstrate the ability to perform tasks, or
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field, or
  • Bachelor’s Degree in any field with 3+ years of working experience associated to the role requirements that demonstrate the ability to perform tasks.
  • 2 years of hands on performance testing or information technology development is required, preferably in a regulated environment, pharmaceutical industry, or supporting clinical trials
  • Experience with industry-standard performance testing tools and automation platforms
  • Understanding of both waterfall and agile project management disciplines.
  • Understanding of FDA 21 CFR Part 11 as it relates to software development.
  • Basic understanding of Test-Driven Design [TDD] and testing/code coverage
Preferred Experience / Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or information technology discipline or equivalent work experience in technical field, such as computer science or information technology discipline
  • 3 or more years performance testing or performance engineering experience required
  • 4 or more years related experience with LoadRunner
  • 2 or more years related experience with automated testing tools
  • 1 or more years of overall software and application development experience preferred
  • Strong SQL Server database query experience
  • HP LoadRunner / Performance Center certification
  • Familiarity with other performance/automation tools (i.e. Solstice, FITnesse, JMeter, Wiley)
  • Server, OS, and/or tool certifications
  • Additional technical certifications related to systems and software development, testing, or delivery
  • Latest Version of multiple browsers like Firefox, Chrome, Edge
  • QTP, Selenium, (or any comparable automation tool)
  • Microsoft Azure Dev Ops
  • Knowledge of clinical trial processes, and FDA regulations
